In the life of an intern at the Los Angeles Film & TV Office of the French Embassy ", the highlight is COL COA.
But if I've already done: City of Lights, City of Angels , the French film festival in LA , now in its 11th edition this year of grace 2007.
And the highlight of COL COA is a bit of Opening Night Gala - especially when the opening film at this event, c ' La Vie en Rose is , La Vie en Rose in "American"!
Both say they had many friends on the phone in recent weeks, since it is a party invitation and limited to 900 seats .
Gratin French stars exiled to the Angels had made the trip, Jeanne singer, footballer Frank, Julie actress Natasha tele ... We also believe Antoine de Caunes, part of the delegation this year.
And then last minute is Charlize Theron who came to sit under my nose (it is never safe from a surprise!)
There were also buddies journalists, and those great studio bosses, too impressive (not necessarily for the same reasons that Charlize!)
So I finally discovered the film by Olivier Dahan, on the big screen (whew) and I really enjoyed it. It's very classical, but very effective - of course due in large part, has already said it seems to me, delivering quite staggering Marion Cotillard.
The other actors are very good, and also the script, which deftly balance the different parts of Piaf's life, the tragedies and dramas, stage and privacy, although Môme do not dissociate. And when you do not see on stage is his music that accompanies the film mostly, very relevant.
But hey, no one is deceived, the standing-ovation at the end, it was Marion Edith. She carries the film, she is Piaf.
So yes, despite the "end", it's nice to experience a festival like this (and this is just the beginning), to see a movie like this, and to have opportunities like these (Cocorico! ;))
... and end credits like this, too - I understand ^ ^
As Dahan said, his life was not necessarily more tragic than others, even if the film is Black - Edith Piaf has just done what she wanted to do ...
... Well said, Oliver!
And so this beautiful day of Monday, April 16, 2007 in pictures:
